Privacy & data retention
This page describes what SLTax collects, how long it is kept, and what is not retained. Screenshots and public calculator inputs are used only to return an estimate for that request. We do not sell personal data or build advertising profiles of brokers or insureds.

Summary
- Screenshots. Processed for field extraction, then discarded. Not stored in a database, object store, or archive.
- Public calculator. Free UI calculations are not saved as account or anonymous history.
- Analytics. No Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or ad-network trackers on SLTax.
- Sale of data. We do not sell personal data.
AMS screenshots
When you drop or paste a screenshot, the file is sent to our extract endpoint over HTTPS. It is held in memory (and, if OCR runs, a temporary working file deleted as soon as OCR finishes). Extracted fields such as state, premium, and effective date are returned to your browser so the form can auto-fill. The image is not retained after the request completes.
Vision and text models used for extraction run on infrastructure we control. Screenshots are not uploaded to consumer AI chat products or third-party training pipelines.
Preview thumbnails in the browser exist only in your session (blob URLs). They are cleared when you reload or leave the page.
Public calculator
The free calculator at sltax.ilionit.com accepts jurisdiction, premium, fees, and coverage options and returns an estimate. Those runs are not written to a permanent history we retain or browse later.
Cloudflare Turnstile is used on extract and calculate requests to reduce bot abuse. That check contacts Cloudflare; it does not store your screenshots.
Paid API accounts
If you create an account and use API keys, we store account identity (for example email via our auth provider), API keys you generate, plan entitlements, and metering metadata such as which API endpoint was called and when — enough to bill and show recent usage in your dashboard. That metadata is not a copy of your premiums, insured names, or uploaded screenshots.
You can rotate or revoke API keys in the dashboard. Contact us to request account deletion.
Site analytics
We run self-hosted Plausible Community Edition on our own servers for aggregate traffic (pageviews, referrers, countries). It is cookieless and does not use a cross-site advertising identity. It does not receive AMS screenshots or calculator payloads.
Practices we do not engage in
- Selling broker, agency, or insured data
- Feeding screenshots into public model-training datasets
- Keeping a searchable archive of free-calculator runs
- Using Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or ad-network trackers on SLTax
